Updates Shmupdates

Well...I've been trying to post some new videos but blogspot here just doesn't wanna let me. So I thought I'd take this time to update you all on her latest developments.

She is going to crawl any day now. She gets on her hands and knees and pushes up onto her feet. She has been giving herself some hand stuffing breaks just long enough to do this. Just today she almost sat herself up too!
She spends much more time rolling around the living room these days, collecting all of Lucy's dog hair like a lint roller. Good times, really.
She has also graduated to bathing directly in the sink! Much messier! Not too sure I like this.
She is such a wiggleworm I can't hold her still long enough to change her diaper. It really is a challenge.
She can officially stand unsupported, we just have to keep her balanced. She really likes this!

What the...

I leave her alone with this box for 2 minutes. What does she do? Gnaw this poor baby's head off. I think she may even have eaten some. Nice.

New developments

She gives me kisses! It's so precious!
When we play on the floor she will play, look up and reach for me for hugs and kisses, then resume playing. She does this over and over. I can't complain, I love it. And yes she gives me open mouthed, sloppy kisses like she is going to eat my face. It's the best!

She is such an excellent eater! I have to make her food in a coffee mug now, she eats so much. We started with bananas, carrots, sweet potatoes, and now we're on butternut squash. She seems to have the food thing down pat. So now it doesn't matter what I shovel in her mouth, she'll open up without question. Now if I can get her to keep her hands out of her mouth I'll have a lot less clean up!

She isn't crawling yet but makes a real good effort. She gets on all fours and pulls a scoot/roll thing. She always get off her blanket, I don't think I can get a big enough one at this point to contain her. There's no stopping her now!

There's a tooth in there!

I just noticed today that she is cutting her front lower tooth! It is barely showing, looks like a canker sore. I was lucky to catch it, she has so much stuffed in her mouth all the time I can never see anything! She's such a good sport too. No fever, no whining, not even a fuss. The only thing is I have a hard time keeping her asleep at bedtime, sometimes it takes 4-5 times. But on a side note, she is sleeping through the night! Finally, rest! I haven't slept through the night since early in my pregnancy! It's been about a week now, just about when Chris got home she began not waking for her usual 1am feeding. YES!!!!!

What a Trooper

Nug's Battle Scars!

I'm so proud of my baby today. I finally broke down and faced the inevitable. She got her 4 month shots, and she did so much better than her 2 month ones! I wasn't anticipating a good visit, upon entering the immunization room I hear a screaming child which in turn, makes her cry. So I'm like...great, here we go. She settles down after all the screaming children leave. She then proceeds to squeal and smile while we wait. I on the other hand am on the verge of tears thinking of what's to come. We sit in the chair and pop one shot in one leg and one in the other. She cried of course, but I calmed her right away. And that was it! She was over it and back to normal in no time. I think I just need to reeeelax!

You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!

Yep, she was Ralphie from "A Christmas Story". She was so freakin adorable, and a darned good sport. She kept those glasses and hat on the whole time! And scored Mom lots of candy!

Nug's First Cereal!

It was a struggle, but she's getting better at it everyday. The tropical punch flavored water works!

Four Month Well Check

She is doing great! She weighs 16lbs 7.4oz, is 25 3/4" long, and her head is 17 1/2". She didn't get any shots because it was too soon since her last round. I have to wait until after Nov 6th. I HATE SHOTS!!!

I also started the rice cereal, 2 tbsp morning and night. She hates it! And why wouldn't she? Amanda tasted it and said it tastes like paste. I tried it with breastmilk and formula. I'm going to try gerber juice next. If that doesn't work, well, she's just gonna have to get over it. Poor thing.

Sunday, October 19, 2008

Figured I should post something as I haven't for a little while, and she's sleeping. So, lets see. She likes to look at herself in the mirror and flirt. She sees herself and squeals as she looks away and clenches my neck. It's too cute! She will also do that to someone else. For a little while she developed a fear of elevators, although I think she may be okay with them now. She still rolls over but I'm having a hard time getting her to roll herself back over. She just lays on her tummy and cries when she's tired of it. That makes it very irritating when she pulls that crap at night! She still wakes up twice in the night to eat. We get to introduce rice cereal in just a week now! I can't wait, and I hope it will help her sleep at night. In recent weeks she has become so cuddly and fun. Motherhood can be so rewarding, can't it?

Just for fun

Well...she learned how to roll over and decided to stop doing it! It's a nice break on my part, I don't have to get up on the hour to a crying baby at night to roll her back over. She can stand and support herself. I only have to hold her fingers! That jumper is getting it's money's worth! She also keeps sticking her fingers down her throat and gagging herself which is irritating! I thinks that's all in the new for now.

Monday, September 29, 2008

Today she figured out how to roll completely over! Now she won't stop doing that! So I've got a runway of blankets running through my living room.

More Bouncing!

Sweet Girl

She was so funny last night. She was having a huge fit (missed a nap and was over tired) so I decided to put her down and let her cry it out. But first I was going to change her diaper. She loves having her butt wiped btw. I get her naked and she looks at me, stops crying...and starts chuckling! Like funny ha ha. I didn't get it on tape, but this was her first time!

ISn't that tape of her and Lucy cute? I was talking to Amelia about rolling over and Lucy thought I Was talking to her. Silly puppy.

On a sad note I have decided to give up pumping my milk. I continue to pump every night and get no more than .2 ounces. That does me no good. In case you didn't know she wont breastfeed anymore so I have been pumping and bottle feeding it. Because of work I haven't been able to keep it up, and I'm losing my supply. I'm so sad! I worked so hard and I feel like a failure by giving in.

A milestone

She rolled over two days ago, and now she won't quit doing it! Funny thing is she hates tummy time, so I have to keep rolling her back over so she won't cry...or puke. She always does, puts too much pressure on the belly I guess. I didn't get it on tape but I'll record her doing it sometime soon.

First Shots

Today was torture day, but I'm not sure for who. Amelia screamed like I never heard her before, and it broke my heart! Actually, she screamed for about 20 minutes BEFORE the shots and cried for about a minute after it was over. Go figure. I couldn't stop crying either. The needles were huge and they are so ruthless about it. She got two, one in each thigh. Luckily she had no reactions or fever. She seems to be just fine!
On the good side of the appt. she had her well being check and she is a super healthy baby! She weighs 13lbs 12 ounces (95th percentile!), her height is 23 1/2" (75%), and her head measured 16.06cm (90%). Her head was 13cm when she was born.
So...super growing nugget.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008

I know I know, it's been awhile, but I was waiting for my camera to come so I could post videos! In the meantime, there have been some changes in the little nugget.

She has begun to really focus now, which makes my life a little easier. She can entertain herself, and it makes her a better baby. She bats at her toys and stares at the TV. She's the only baby that has to watch surgeries on The Discovery Health Channel, I'm sure. Poor kid. Because of her love to stand and sit up, we've begun to put her in a jumper chair. She's too small so I have to wrap her up in blankets and put a towel under her feet. She loves it!
She also talks a lot more and screeches at the top of her lungs at times. It's too cute. She gets a lot of attention in stores! She randomly does these little coughs, I'm not too sure if she swallows spit wrong or it holds entertainment value. I think it may be a little of both.

Thursday, August 14, 2008

I forgot to mention that at Nugget's first appt. last Monday she weighed 11.9lbs. I took her in for her follow up yesterday and she is 12.6lbs!
Also, Sunday we started her sleeping in her own bed. She has taken to it extremely well, although that first night I bawled. I felt like she was just too far away. Now it's a blessing. :)
Her latest craze is shoving her whole fist in her mouth and sucking on it like it's got crack on it. Now I can't tell when she's hungry because she's always doing it!

When Amanda left so did her camera, I've ordered one in the meantime so when it comes I can post videos again.

The latest

I took Amelia to the doctor last week to find out if she has a possible relux problem because she spits up a lot. The doc asked me about her feeding schedule and she said it seems she just may be eating too much. So we set up a schedule of breastfeeding 10 minutes on each side and supplement with 2oz of soy formula every 2-3 hours. The soy helps keep it down, and so far has been working out great! She doesn't even eat that much anyways. But I get to still breastfeed and she spits up very rarely! It's a great win/win.
These days Amelia is smiling and googling much more. Sometimes you can even get an occasional laugh. She also discovered my hair, and likes to grab it all the time.
We had a fantastic week of few to no colic fits until Friday when all hell broke loose. All in all she does seem to be getting better, or I'm just getting more patient.

Sunday, August 3, 2008

Amusing...but not for weak stomachs!

Well, it's been a few days on the soy formula and so far I have to say I have a pretty happy little girl. She is less gassy and hardly ever spits up. Overall she seems to be in a better mood, although the nightly cry sessions are still the same. When I breastfeed she is fussy all the time and spits up about 5 times after every feeding. It really really makes me sad when I have to look at her eating out of the bottle. I've cried a few times. But I have to not be stubborn and do what is best for her.
Anyways, she finally pooped, I was so excited! So naturally I had to capture it. hee hee.

AMELIA DOING HER BUSINESS

THE RESULT

...enjoy :)

Friday, August 1, 2008

Yesterday we started Amelia on soy formula to see if it helps with her fussiness. So far she seems pretty happy, but it could be that she just feels more full. She also hasn't poo'd yet and it's making me anxious. I'm really sad because I want to put her on my boob, and I hate getting up to make bottles! However, I'm enjoying the break and have been able to pump some of my milk. She eats so much I never get a chance!

Just wanting to say hi!

THE FORMULA FOR COLIC RELIEF

1 vibrating chair + 1 moose + 2 curtains + 1 binky = 10 minutes of PEACE!!!!!

Friday, July 25, 2008

Amelia is just over a month old now! She weighs in at a whopping 11 pounds. Developmentally, she can now pretty much lift and support her head as well as support her weight on her legs. She also discovered sticking her tongue out and making spit bubbles are fun. If you talk to her she will smile at you now! I love it. She still adores staring at her curtains and talking to Mr. Moose.
On the bad side, I determined that she does not have gas all the time, she has colic. I did a lot of reading on it and she is pretty textbook. It starts about 6pm every night and she can cry off and on till her bedtime at 10-11pm. It's so hard to deal with, and it's really depressing. I just wish I knew how to make it all better, but no one does. I bought some "gripe water" which is nothing more than a ginger/fennel liquid that helps calm the stomach. We used it twice last night, I can't really tell if it helped or not. I have also cut dairy out of my diet to see if it helps. Otherwise, it seems to help to put the TV on the 90's music channel and dance and sing around the living room. Try doing that 20 times a night. I guess I can see it as a way to lose my last 15 pounds!

My baby is 3 weeks 3 days old!

Wow the time is a flying! I know I kinda skipped the whole giving birth thing but you all know about it so there's no sense in elaborating. Honestly, I'm only just now starting to feel human again. I have been a walking breathing sleeping boob for 3 weeks now. I'm feeling just about normal from the c section, and I have about caught up (or became numb) to sleep, or the lack of.
Amelia is getting so big, I measured her at 21 inches and weighed 10.6 lbs today! She is getting real strong. She can hold her head up and kicks like a crazy person. I work with her on pushing and stretching her legs. She talks and stares, mainly at our curtains, she seems to like the contrast in the stripes. Also if you wave something in her face she will follow it, something she has done since 2 weeks, and the nurse said that comes at 4 weeks! She also got her belly button a few days ago!
Today we had our first real "gas" episode. It was about 15 minutes of screaming torture. At one point she became bright red and tears weld up in her eyes and I just lost it. Anytime she cries for real I break down. I can't handle it when she's not feeling good, I just sob right along with her. I must be a mom.

My checkup

Today we discussed our options with Dana as far as if inducing is something we want to do. I am dilated 1cm and effaced 80 percent! She said that's real good. She also stripped my membranes (stuck her fingers in my cervix and stretched it). It did not feel good! But this may help progress labor. As it stands right now, I have another appt. to have my contractions and Amelia's heart rate monitored tomorrow, then I am scheduled to be induced Tuesday! So if nothing happens over the weekend, we will have a baby no later than Tuesday!

Heh...another appointment

This morning I went in for a growth scan and another fluid check, aka ultrasound. I have quite the collection of pictures! I was worried my fluids were going to be high still, but I measured 21. With 25 being the max, I was pretty happy with that. The growth scan is when the tech measures individual body parts and charts them to determine an approximate weight. Well check this out. This little girl was determined to weigh about 8 lbs 12 ounces! And she will continue to gain 1/2 lb a week as long as she cooks. Youch. I have my regular check up on Thursday, I hope I am dilating by then!

And....I am very excited to say I lost my mucus plug this morning at 1:30AM.

Week 39

I am soooo sad. I have officially began getting stretch marks, and it really bums me out! I've had them about 4 days now. Urg!! I was doing so good!
I weighed 159.0 and measured upper 42 1/4, mid 43 1/2 and lower 42 1/2. I lost about 1/2" which I hope is some of that fluid! I am trying real hard to keep moving so maybe we can get me dilated a little. If they have to induce Thursday it will be easier if my cervix is ripe. I started logging my contractions and they are still pretty irregular. Frequent, but not consistent. And of course the little girl is fidgeting and moving all the time.

I also went on vacation today....

Another Appointment

Today I went in for fetal monitoring. This was my first time doing this so I was a little nervous. It turned out fine. I sat in a chair for an hour while a machine recorded Amelia's heart rate and my contractions. I had four! Her heart rate was fine, so I was much relieved. Then I went for another fluid check and measured 25 this time. 25 is the max, but that's ok with me! I felt much better about this appt. Plus Chris was there which made me very happy!

Thursday, June 12, 2008

My Appointment

I am getting really sick of these bad news appointments! I had an exam, I have not progressed at all since the last appointment, which is ok, but I measured 42. So up to ultrasound I go. This time instead of getting good news that my fluids were ok I get my fluids are measuring 28 (last week was 15). So what's up with that? Now this doesn't pose a risk to Amelia, but they worry that with excess fluid the pressure of the water breaking could cause the umbilical cord to pull out. However, this is uncommon.
Now I have a series of appointments for heart monitoring and more fluid checks next week. If my fluids remain high they want to induce me on Thursday!

By the way it is our 9 year anniversary today! And my gift was the most beautiful ring I could ask for. A 1 1/4 carat platinum 3 stone ring. The picture doesn't do it justice. This was supposed to be my 10 year present as 10 is a diamond, so I got it a little early!

Week 38

Man am I tired. I actually napped for an hour yesterday which is so not like me. I want one right now! We went to the beach and took pics today, I don't have much longer so we had to go get that done ASAP.
I gained 3 pounds! (157.2) I measured almost 2 inches larger as well, but it could just be positioning. The upper was 43, mid 44 1/4 and lower 42.
She is still kicking and moving around as usual! I can't really tell at this point if my braxton kicks have transitioned into regular contractions, but I distinguish them as either a hickie contraction or a hot face contraction. Sometimes they are strong and my face feels like it is flush but I don't think I actually turn red. Heh.

My Appointment

Today I saw Carmen, and she told me a few things that did not make me too happy. First she tells me my strep test came back positive. I guess it's known that it can cause the baby to get pneumonia at birth without antibiotics. They simply give you small doses in active labor. She said it was very common. Whatever, I have a weird strain of bacteria in my v-jay and I don't like it. Then she examines my belly and tells me I look too big for 37 weeks. She was right, I measured 41! She did tell me her head is a pretty good size, so looks like I might have a little chunker like I was! She was kicking the crap out of me during the whole appt and it showed, her little heart rate was 160. The good news is I am 60% effaced, which means my cervix is thinning quite a bit. Her head is at -2 station, (0 would be the tip of her head at the bottom of my pelvis). No dilation yet.
So Carmen sends me to the diagnostics place for an ultrasound to have my fluids checked. I was a little worried at this point because for some reason it's not good to have access fluid. Amanda and I watched a few episodes of Rachael Ray waiting to be seen. It took forever! Anyhow, that's where the good news kicks in. She looks great! I got to see her little heart beating, her tummy breathing in and out, and best of all, we confirmed she's a girl! No surprises! And...my fluid levels are perfect, she said they measured 15, whatever that means. So, it all works out. Only thing I wish was Chris could have been there.
Here's the pics I got today...what a great money shot!

Week 37

Yay the nursery is done!
We worked hard this week getting lose ends done. Nursery, getting my goody bag ready for the hospital, picking up stuff here and there. I think I have everything I need...I guess?
So I gained a pound (153.6) and measured upper 41 mid 42 1/2 and bottom 41.

I think I'll take this time to summarize exactly what I have been experiencing so far that I may have failed to mention.

1. Parts of my legs and feet are numb, especially my right knee. It hurts if I lean on it the wrong way. A 3" circumference around my belly button is also numb.
2. I have a nagging ache in my mid right side of my back that ties into the side of my belly (ligaments perhaps?) I experience this mostly if I have been sitting too long, along with swollen feet.
3. I still have dry flaky red skin on my chin that I can't seem to kick. I am also developing blotchy brown spots on my face from the sun. Sunscreen!
4. I can no longer wear my wedding ring, it's worn on my necklace.
5. I've been experiencing "pee constipation". Sometimes it just won't come out.
6. I pee all night every 2 hours. I'm not joking. I also down a bottle of water in the night too. I can't seem to ever get enough to drink.
7. When I cry (which is very easy to do) or even get the slightest of watery eyes my head will hurt. As soon as those tear ducts dry up I feel fine again.

Now, these are not nags or complaints, just notes of what my body has been up to. I have had a great experience so far! She doesn't even kick me too bad anymore for lack of space. She figets a lot and that makes me skirmy if she gets on a roll. Sometimes it's just ridiculous and I have to tell her to knock it off.

Sunday, May 25, 2008

Week 36

Nothing new really happened this week. Amelia is moving and kicking me a lot these days, to the point I have to either get up and move around or just hunch over. It tickles! I can't handle it, but I guess I'm glad she's not hurting me!
I weighed 152.6 and measured upper 41, mid 42 1/2 and lower 42. They seem to be normal again now that Chris measured this week.

We finally cracked down and started knocking out the nursery. We finished painting, but we still have to touch up areas, caulk and paint the molding. Then we can pretty much put everything together! I can't wait until it's done. Here's what we did today

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

My appointment today

I was a little bit disappointed today because I had hopes I might be progressing. I had my strep swab done and asked for a cervix check. Chris, Amanda and I started a bet how far I could be dialated and how efaced (soft) it might be. We were all wrong. My cervix is not open for business. Nada, nothin. She said that was normal for 35 weeks, but still! I want progress dangit! Looks like I am on track for a June 23rd-ish delivery afterall. So those of you that think otherwise...you're wrong!
She also pressed on my lower abdomen and felt Amelia's head. Yep sir-ee, it's official, she's upside down and ready to roll. Her heartbeat is 153. Good as gold.

Sunday, May 18, 2008

Week 35

So far so good. I gained a pound (150.4) and weirdly my measurements dropped...a lot. I had to do it several times over just to be sure. I lost inches (upper 39 mid 40 1/2 lower 40). I know she's making her way upside down now, so i guess it makes a difference in my measurements! I also know she's upside down because she got the hiccups last night for a solid few minutes. The jumps were in my lower abdomen. I've been feeling fine lately but not my best. My lower back is starting to get tense, it's hard to find a decent position when I sit anymore. You know, the typical pregnancy gripes! I also have a lot of nasal congestion. I have for quite sometime, I snore and snort when I laugh a lot!
We graduated from birthing class last Tuesday. I think I'm prepared. Heh. The final class we learned about c sections....gross! I had to watch one. It was not pretty.

Just for the record, I got about 5 comments from strangers yesterday that there is no way I am going to last a month. Anyone want to start a pool for my real due date??

Sunday, May 11, 2008

Week 34

Happy Mother's Day!
It doesn't quite apply just yet, but I got presents and cards anyhow! Another reason to have a day for me is awesome!
Well...same ole same ole really. I gained 3 pounds (149.0) which puts me at an official gain of 35 pounds to date. That's supposed to be my max. gain for the prenancy. So I'm going to go a little over. Oh well! I'm just going to blame it on all my puffiness. I can hardly wear my wedding ring, my watch is tight and I can only wear one pair of shoes. I really need to buy another pair! She seems to be a litte lower these days. My belly measured upper 40 1/2 mid 42 and lower 42. Makes sense because if you look at my belly lately its round on top and goes completely flat down the front. I wonder how she is laying? I'm thinking she's laying horizontal. When she moves I can feel her on complete opposite sides. Sometimes I feel like she's really high as well when she presses on my ribs. I'll be glad when she drops a bit, but my bladder won't! Also those Braxton contractions are happening more frequently and more intense. It's not so bad unless I have to pee, then it's pretty dang uncomfortable!
This past Tuesday's class was a little redundant, but it still reminded me of what I need to know. Massages, breathing techniques, birthing videos (gotta love em) and what we should bring to the hospital. Chris was also able to make this one and it made me very happy!

Sunday, May 4, 2008

Week 33

This week was great. I lost an ounce (146.4) and gained 1/2in 'round. My upper was 40 1/2, mid 41 1/2 and lower 40 3/8. I also seemed to have found my feet again, mostly by doing what I should have been all along: elevating them! She is still moving a lot, but not so much kicking. My "What to expect when you're expecting" book told me that anyhow due to minimal space. Still getting the Braxton Hicks contractions as well. No biggie there though. Just my good ole uterus warming up.
This past Tuesday at class we learned all about the different phases of labor and how I will feel. Not too good apparently. Then we watched a discreet birth video that followed the births of 3 women and how they handled labor. Interesting. We also learned about a water aerobics class that is held mon/wed/fri on Pearl. Amanda and I checked it out on Friday and we fell in love! We're going to keep going as long as we can.

Sunday, April 27, 2008

Week 32

Not a very eventful week. Weighed 146.6 and measured upper 40, mid 41 and lower 40 1/2. More gaining! I'm getting quite big, I took a pic of me in my bathing suit and I looked enormous! I don't think I have the courage to post it though! She has been more quiet this week, but still moving just the same.

Checkup and L&D Tour

Had my appt today, all the midwives were completely booked so I saw a nurse. Amelia measures 31-32, so right where she needs to be. Her heart rate was a solid 150bpm. Everything is going great! The nurse also told me the results of my glucose test. I scored a 120 and normal is below 135. So I'm good there too!
After my appt. Chris, Amanda and I went on the labor and delivery tour of the hospital. I got to see what the rooms look like and all that jazz. They look like little motel rooms, not bad! I was also thrilled that they had tubs in them so I can soak if I want. I guess these days they don't have nurseries anymore, so baby stays by your side the whole time.
We also went to our first birthing class last night. I had Chris and Amanda there for team Brown. I felt pretty good considering a few girls didn't have anyone. We went over some basic delivery procedures and learned exercises to help move baby into better postitons. Chris learned massage techniques to keep me calm. I was in heaven! And I learned how to do a proper kegal :)

Week 31

Happy Birthday to me! And my gift to myself is water retention...again. Yep, the cankles are back with a vengeance! I gained almost 4 pounds! This morning I weighed 144.6 and measured upper 39, mid 40 3/4 and lower 39 3/4. Almost an inch of growth! Not much new to report, she is still not kicking as much as she is just moving all over. I'm also experiencing a lot lately those Braxton Hicks contractions. My entire belly just contracts and gets really tight and brick hard, then it releases. Funny stuff.
My child birth classes start Tuesday!

Week 30

What a great week. I found my ankles again, and I lost weight! Well, I believe I just lost some of my water retention. I have ankle bones again...for now.
I weighed 141.0 and measured upper 38, mid 39 3/8 and lower 39 3/8. No growth either. But she sure is moving! She was quiet in the beginning of the week which was concerning me. However, all changed by mid week and she is rockin and a rollin all the time. I noticed too her movements are feeling different. Sometimes I just feel the movements without kicking and all that. I can sit on the couch and watch my belly wobbling all over the place, it's really quite entertaining!
For the most part, I feel the same as always. But I am extremely HOT all the time. Even the bottom of my feet sweat. Sleeping is better, for awhile I was having a hard time staying asleep. I can thank my new body pillow for that. I love it!

Week 29

Kick, fidget, press. That's been my week in a nut shell! She's been pretty active. I weighed 141.4, up a few pounds. I measured upper 38, mid 39 1/2, and lower 40. Yes, I hit the big 4-0. I have been consistently gaining roughly 1/2 an inch per week.

My glucose test

I don't know what you girls are complaining about. Perhaps it tastes better these days, but mine tasted like nothing more than semi flat Pepsi. It was easy to drink, only problem was I had 3 minutes to guzzle it. I'm a sipper, so that sucked.
So it was drink, wait an hour, and have my blood taken. Easy as one, two, three....

Week 27 and 28

Wow what an eventful week! As you all know I had my baby shower in Lancaster this past Saturday, and it was a blast! I couldn't have asked for anything better. I think about 50 people were there, and it was awesome hanging out with everyone. Amelia was very quiet the whole time, Michelle and Mary kept shaking her and trying to get her to move with no luck!
I gained 3 pounds in 2 weeks (139.2) which I'm pretty happy about considering how much I pigged out on vacation. This makes me 24 pounds to date. I only have 11 pounds left so I better use them wisely :) My belly measured upper 37 1/4, mid 39 and lower 39 1/2. I am also officially in my 3rd trimester. Whoo hoo!
She kicked quite a bit while I was there, I think mostly everyone got a feel. She has her moments. Either she won't keep still or she's very quiet.
We painted the nursery today, not all the details but just the solid color on the walls. That would be pink of course!

Just for fun, here's my first sign of stretch marks. URG!

My big fat foot. Isn't there supposed to be an ankle in there somewhere?

Week 26

This week was pretty different. Not only did I gain 3 pounds (136.2) but I gained about 2 inches around! My upper is 36 3/8, mid 38 and lower 38 1/4. I am feeling puffy, gassy and tired a lot. I was looking at my ankles yesterday wondering if they were turning into cankles. I can barely clean my bathtub anymore and when I lean over the sink to brush my teeth I have to get my tippy toes so my belly doesn't press up against the edge of the sink.
I also learned that the baby's brain is growing the most right now, so I have been loading up on brain food like eggs, soy chocolate milk and my omega enriched peanut butter. And of course fish when I can.
She is moving much more this week. She's not really kicking so much as she is pressing. Every so often she'll move and press her foot or something up against the uterine wall. It's really cool! It doesn't tickle as much as the kicking does. When she does it my belly gets brick hard in that spot until she moves it.
The baby shower is next weekend! I can't wait!

Week 25

Wow, the time is going by fast! And I am getting BIGGER even though the measurements I take seem to contradict that! I gained 2 pounds (ouch!) 132.6. My belly measured upper 34 3/4, mid 36 5/8, and lower 37 3/4. She moved more this week, but still not giving me any monster punches. She must be lazy like her mom. I am also at the point where none of my "normal" clothes fit. I have to rely on maternity pants if I want to breathe. But you know what, they are so comfy I wish I could wear them always!
I finally bought my pregnancy scrapbook so I can get started putting that together. I also couldn't resist the buying of more outfits. There is nothing more irresistible than little girl outfits, especially when they're on sale! We are also going to pick up paint for the nursery today, we have an idea of what we're going to do.

Another Checkup

I had another check up today, everything looks great. Dana measured my belly at 25". The baby's heartrate was 156. My weight gain to date is 20 pounds but she said I'm doing fine as long as I continue to exercise. Chris missed this appt. :(
I have to do my glucose test next appt, and I was thrilled when Dana said it was a non fasting test. Thank God! I am not good at not eating. You only have to fast if you fail the first test. The second round would require a fast. yay!
Also, I think her name is unofficially Amelia Michelle.

Week 24

And yet another uneventful week. Barely gained any weight, 130.8, and measured upper 37 1/4, mid 37 and lower 35 3/8. She hasn't moved much either. Well she moves here and there but the kicking has not been happening like she used to. I'll take a pic tomorrow. Goodnight!

Week 23

Here's 23 week old belly! Doesn't look much different than a 20 week belly. Another not so eventful week. I caught up to myself by gaining 2 pounds this week. I weighed 130.2 and measured high 34 1/2, mid 36 1/4 and low 37". It's getting bigger that's for sure. I also noticed a dark line running down the middle of my belly. I was warned about that, and I see it! It's faint, but I can see it.
She is also not kicking all that much this week. Funny I say that now because she is moving at the moment.

Sunday, February 17, 2008

Week 22

Well, I don't have much to say this week. Nothing new has happened and I forgot to weigh myself this morning. I measured upper 34 1/8, mid 36 and lower 36 3/4. I grew a tiny bit, and I will weigh myself tomorrow morning and plug it in.(Ok I am so excited! No weight gain after a week of Valentine chocolate stuffing! Still 127.6!) Otherwise, she has been quite quiet this week. Good girl :)
I am beginning to plan my baby shower! Well my sissy is. I love her. Yay!

A few things pregnancy has given me so far....

1. Blotchy dry skin around my nose and mouth
2. Little red zits
3. Bloody boogers
4. Periodic headaches (I blame it on caffiene withdrawl)

My first scare

I had my first good scare last night. About 9pm I went downstairs to put clothes in the dryer. The short time I did that I had developed a headache and began feeling hot. I went to the fridge and stood there with my coffee creamer bottle pressed to my forehead. lol. Then I decided to sit on the couch in the dark. Things were getting blurry and I began to sweat. So I go outside for fresh air. As I stand there I begin to feel a faint feeling so I crouch to the ground and put my head between my legs. I sat there holding my face with my eyes closed wondering what the heck is happening. I felt better doing this, so I decide to try to get up. Nope. It happens again but worse. So I just took a seat right there on my cold dark porch and waited. I wondered if I was going to pass out or not. I didn't. Chris comes out looking for me and by this time it has subsided but I'm afraid to move. Chris goes upstairs to find out if he can find something on the web, and he did! Apparently, it can be common in most women to experience this, the baby may be laying on a main artery and you need to get on all fours to try to get her to move off of it. I was so relieved that it wasn't serious. It was really scary, I thought something was wrong with the baby. I asked several girlfriends and all but one said it happened to them too. Whew.....

Week 21

I gained one pound this week, yay! I weighed 127.6 and measured upper 34, mid 35 3/4 and lower 36.5". We got a few things this weekend. Of course I couldn't resist the urge to pick up the cutest onsie and shoe outfit ever, and some lullaby cds to play on my belly. Grandpa Mike and Grandma Elsie bought us the crib we picked out! We are so excited to start putting the room together! We cleaned it out some but still needs work before painting.
She's still doing minor kicking and letting herself be known. That's about all!

I'm getting my baby girl!

But you already new that! Today's ultrasound was amazing. This time the tech had to search around, find specific body parts and chart the growth. Half the time I had no idea what we were looking at, but the lady knew what she was looking for! She asked before we began if we wanted to know the sex so of course we both shout "Yes!" Well during her prodding and searching she suddenly goes, "Looks like you got a girl!" I was like "huh?" I have no idea what I'm looking at here! Figures right? Regardless, I still cried. The tech had me rolling all over the bed to try to get the baby to roll over. She couldn't get the right angle for a heart picture she needed. During the course of the ultrasound we see her punch me and yawn. It was great. The baby weighs 14 ounces and the heartrate was 149. I can't remember now if she told me the length or not. Everything is running smooth and she is developing great! We couldn't be happier. To celebrate I had ice cream twice today.

Oh and on the way home from the appt. she started giving me flutters. Because it tickles, I always place my hand on my lower belly. Well, just then she either punched or kicked me and man did I feel it, even on my hand! Of course I tried to grab Chris' hand but by then she had enough and went to sleep I guess. I'm sure they'll be many more chances.

Me getting gloob all over the place

A very happy Daddy!

Week 20

I have come to realize I AM feeling movement! It became more apparent that what I thought was gas was the baby all along (past few weeks). The faint flutters in my lower abdomen are getting stronger and more frequent, and it tickles really bad! Of course it has to be in my most ticklish spot ever.
I really didn't gain this week. I weighed 126.4. As far as measuring goes I'm going to start taping my upper, middle, and lower waist just because it seems I get the most growth all over. My upper was 33, my mid was 35, and my lower was 36. I didn't do the best job of it seeing Chris isn't here to do it. It'll do.
Also, I think the proper way to tape your belly is a vertical measure, and the number is supposed to tell you how many weeks you are. Well...that doesn't apply to me I guess, I only measured 14.

Tuesday, January 29, 2008

My belly is fuzzy like animal. I can't stop petting it.

Sunday, January 27, 2008

For your belly oogling pleasure...

Week 19

Not too much going on these days, I gained a few pounds (126.2). I have gained 12 pounds so far! I KNOW my gut is hanging everywhere, but around my bellybutton still measured the usual 34 1/2. However I had Chris measure my lower belly which was 35 something and my upper which was 32. I have never been that big up there so I am growing all over! I got me one big wall of baby. My entire belly is feeling tight and hard, but still no signs of movement. 12 days!

My first comment

This morning I was chatting it up with a lady on my ferry, and she says "I see you're expecting..." I was shocked! Am I finally there? I thought I just looked really fat and bloated still. Most people won't go there unless it's obvious. Maybe it is now? Hmmm....

Sunday, January 20, 2008

Week 18

I really don't get it. I shrunk! Maybe I just was really bloated. I weighed 123.6 and measured 34 1/4. Weird. It bummed me out because I was all excited this morning expecting to be all big. When I stretch out my stomach I can feel the tightness of my uterus around my mid section.

Wednesday, January 16, 2008

See...told ya!

This shirt (and pants) used to be loose. Heh. I was hurtin today.

Ballooning

I think I just suddenly grew today. I was checking myself out naked (I always examine my belly before I shower) and I just looked like a pregnant woman. Not like, "oh I look bloated", it was like "whoa, I look like a pregnant lady!" I had Chris measure me and I was 35 3/8! I knew it wasn't all in my head. Chris also made a comment about my belly spilling over my pants. It's starting! I'll be a whale in no time.

Feb. 8th is the day!

I just made my ultrasound appt. for Friday Feb. 8 at 1 o'clock. We'll know if she's a she or he's a he!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday, January 13, 2008

Week 17

This morning I weighed 123.0, so I barely gained any weight this week. But my belly grew a little. It was 34 3/4. Nothing really changed this week. I'm starting to really notice pressure on my belly now, my uterus is getting bigger and I can tell. Your stomach gets stiff like you have gas all the time but you don't. I should be feeling movement anytime now!

Checkup Appt. No. 2

Well, I assumed I was going to get felt up again today but didn't, I didn't even undress. I had a choice to do the triple screen test (different diseases) but declined. I met another midwife today, her name was Carmen. I liked her too. Chris was with me this time, and all we did was listen to the heartbeat. 155 bpm. Ahhh....
She also was pushing on my stomach showing me where the baby is. The baby is high now, near my belly button! And I could feel the pressure!
I asked her a few questions I had saved up. First I wanted to know what my max heartrate should be when I work out. I don't want to over do it. Second, thanks to Amanda I had to ask how many holes are in my nipples (I was betting there was only one, there are multiple, she won). Lastly if I can take extra Vit C when I'm sick. Tomorrow is one week since I got this cold of mine and let me tell you, I have never blown so much snot out of my head. I'm going for some kind of record. I hardly get sick and when I do it's quick 'n easy. So, perhaps another preggo thing. I have had 2 colds already!

A few firsts!

Grandma Jeri sent us baby's first present, a beautiful handmade fleece blankie. I have no doubt it will be "her" favorite!
Chris and I were grocery shopping today and decided to pick up some diapers. So here they are. $10.18 for 62. Not bad, that's a good value. It's when their butts get bigger that it's not such a good value anymore.
Later Amanda sent me a link for the best consumer ratings for diapers. Apparently Huggies are the best. I'm already a bad parent. HA...kidding.

Close Encounters

Imagine going out to your car in the dark. Imagine hearing little "klankity klank" noises out in the road. Imagine looking in the street and seeing some black thing. What is that??? Is it a dog? Is it a sheep? No. It's a pig. A boar is trotting down our little suburban street like it's nobody's business. How cute is that! Wish I had a camera.

Week 15 Day 5...Ah let's just round it off...16 weeks

Wow, I'm 4 months now! And I am very excited this morning because I finally broke out of the 33's! I weighed 122.8 (ouch) and measured a whoppin 34 1/4! Amazing. I bet those grilled cheese's I keep eating have something to do with that.
I didn't want to tell the world about my sex life, but I also want to keep track of this stuff. So sorry in advance. Lets just say the past few weeks were peak. But it's going back down again.
I can eat about anything, just no asparagus!
And let me tell you...my emotions this week are killer. Yesterday I watched Fried Green Tomatoes and kept crying. Then later a pet adoption commercial for abused animals came on and I lost it. I wasn't just crying I was bawling. I am so glad Chris was outside working on the car because I looked like a retard.
I have a cold again thanks to Chris, and it is hard because I won't take anything.
Oh and one last thing, I have to get up in the night to pee again. I had a nice 1-2 week break.
